Decide on game style and faction
Groups, dungeons and raids only work within the same game style. A guild therefore has to agree on Normal, PvP or Roleplay before launch, and on a faction. If you may move to Hardcore later, note that progress from Normal, PvP and Roleplay does not carry over to Hardcore.
Plan rosters by raid size
At raid launch there are raids for 10 and 20 players, plus Onyxia’s Lair for 40 according to roadmap reports. A small guild can manage Barrow Deeps; for Onyxia’s Lair it needs reinforcements or an alliance with other guilds. Larger guilds can form several groups of 10 or 20. It pays to decide early who plays in which roster and how substitutes move up.
Choose a loot system
One feature of Forever affects every loot system: the stats of new raid loot are hidden until it is first found. Before December 9 nobody knows which items drop in Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps.
| System | How it works | At Forever launch |
|---|---|---|
| Priority list | Leadership sets an order per item, often by role, attendance and need. | Only useful for the new raids once the loot is known. Until then, agree on ground rules, such as role before attendance. |
| Soft reserve | Everyone reserves one or two items before the raid; ties are rolled. | Works from the first evening, even if the loot only becomes visible in the raid. Good for groups with changing lineups. |
| DKP | Players earn points for attendance and bid them on items. | Points can already be earned on dungeon nights or preparation runs. Needs clear rules and someone who keeps the points. |
Most guilds need a separate rule for especially rare items; a developer interview mentioned one per raid boss, but this is not confirmed. Many hand out such items by loot council decision rather than through the normal system. What matters is that the rule is set before the first one drops.
Write down your raid rules
Written rules prevent arguments after the first rare drop. They cover the sign-up deadline, how substitutes are handled, what happens on absence and the loot rules. All members should be able to read them.
Raid sign-ups on Discord
Most guilds organize raid dates on Discord. A sign-up button with role and class helps leadership see early whether tanks or healers are missing.
GuildLoot for Forever
GuildLoot is a free fan project for raiding guilds. Forever has its own area with priority lists, soft reserve and raid sign-ups on Discord. A guild registers via register a guild and is activated through an email link; what is stored is explained under privacy. Players then create their access in the Forever guild area. The tool matters less than the decision: agree on one system before the first raid.
